The New World Heritage Sites of UNESCO

A little over a month the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) published the inscription of 25 new destinations worldwide in the list of World Heritage sites, increasing the total to 936 places.

The choice of a new heritage requires a rigorous process. It all starts with the inventory of sites of interest made by each country. These places are inscribed on a tentative list.

Then, the country must choose the destinations you want to include in the nomination dossier, which is evaluated by the World Conservation Union and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). These two agencies responsible for reviewing the proposals in detail, and then reach their recommendations to the committee members of the heritage of humanity, which ultimately provided the basis of 10 criteria to recognise the outstanding value of each nominee will decide whether to add new sites to the final list.
